Part of the setting up routine is organising a pallet.
A pallet should be made of a hard material that is easy to wipe clean and doesn't let the paint sink in.
Tiles make good pallets.

A simple paint pallet would have the primary colours on it and black and white.
A mixer pallet is used to blend the colours that you want. Using a mixer pallet will stop the paint pallet getting messed up.
